Amherst Writers & Artists is a non-profit, international arts organization and network of writing workshop leaders. AWA-certified leaders have received the intensive training we offer in the AWA method, founded over thirty years ago by Pat Schneider, author of Writing Alone and With Others, Oxford University Press.

AWA International sets the standards for AWA training, trains new facilitators, and in conjunction with those facilitators, opens up writing to everyone in all walks of life, where ever a story needs to be told.
